山本五十六：役所広司主演のTVを観て…
１月６日(日)、ヨッシーが尊敬する山本五十六の映画、「連合艦隊司令長官山本五十六」をTVでじっくり観ることができました。
Last Sunday, January 6th, Yoshy could carefully watch the movie, “the combined fleet's Commander-in-chief, Yamamoto Isoroku”; he is one of Yoshy’s most respected men.
ハワイ奇襲への第二次攻撃を避けてしまった南雲忠一第一航空艦隊司令長官への対応が感動的でした。
Yoshy was very moved by his unusual correspondence to Admiral Chuichi Nagumo who decided not to order the second surprise sortie to Hawaii.
命令違反ですから、凡人なら激怒するところですが、南雲中将を詰ることはしませんでした。当時の軍令部の中にあっては如何ともしがたかったのでしょう。
Since Admiral Nagumo’s decision was apparently against his order, it was natural Genaral Yamamoto should get angry, but he didn’t; he knew the unique atmosphere of Japan’s Army at that time.
以下の言葉が大好きです。今回の映画を観て、「人事を尽くして天命を待つ」= 「放下」の言葉を思い出しました。
The words below are one of Yoshy’s favorites. After watching this movie, I remembered a word, “Ho-ge” which means “Do your best and leave the rest to Providence”.
「やって見せ、言って聞かせて、やらせてみ、ほめてやらねば、人は動かじ」
Show one, tell one what to do, let one do it, and furthermore praise one; if not, anyone won’t work well.
越後長岡が生んだ山本五十六のこの言葉は、「大人が手本を見せなければ…子どもは動かない」と言い換えることができそうです。(例：いじめ問題)
This analects by Isoroku Yamamoto born at Nagaoka in Echigo, Niigata-ken could be expressed in different words; “Unless we adults show a model, … any child won’t move.” (E.g. Bulling-problem)
M-PEC Festivalで、「大人が英語劇をする」ことのもう一つの大義(重要な理由)がここにあると信じて、披露し続けています。
Yoshy believes that there is another major noble cause (important reason) in showing citizens “Our Drama performed in English”, keeping on and on.
大人が照れくさがったり、くじけたりしたら、良い子は育ちません。
It is very natural that if we adults became too shy to do or lost courage to do, we won’t be able to see good children around us.
