烏瓜(カラスウリ)の種子は縁起が良いことを知りました。
The seed of a karasu-uri augurs well for us.
４月２日の深夜、LLシホヤ新井教室のサイト：www.shihoya.com のデザインを変更しました。
Yoshy renewed the style of the site of LL Shihoya Arai School above in the midnight of April 2nd.
何気なく、赤い実が連なっている図案を選びました。「グミ」かなと、思っていました。
Carelessly Yoshy chose a style with some red-colored fruits; I guessed they might be “silverberries”.
その直後に書いたブログが、山下佳恵様の詩、「カラス」の下手な英訳でした。
Soon after that, Yoshy wrote my daily Blog that was my poor translation of “A Crow”, one of Ms. Yamashita’s poems.
早速山下様からメールが…「カラスウリは、「打ち出の小槌」とも言われていますね」と。
Immediately she sent me her e-mail; in which she wrote, “Karasu-uri has another name: “Lucky Mallet”.
調べたら、まさにその通りでした。
Checking it, bingo! That’s right.
中国と日本が原産の所為か、的確な英語名が見つかりません。ここでは、ローマ字表記です。学名は、以下に。
Maybe because it is native to China and Japan, I couldn’t find its English name, using a roman letter here. Its zoological name is “Trichosanthes cucumeroides”.
偶然にも、「カラス」を下手な英訳させて頂き、LLシホヤ新井教室のサイトのデザインが「カラスウリ」= 「打ち出の小槌」…今朝起きたら、しつこい風邪が治っていました。
By chance, Yoshy decided to translate her “A Crow” into my poor English and had changed the style of the website of LL Shihoya Arai School into “Karasu-uri” Another name of it is “Lucky Mallet”. … When I got up this morning, I got over the sticky cold.
縁起が良い「カラスウリ」を当分使います。山下様、ありがとうございます。
