英検メールマガジン翻訳 Vol.69

Comics, TV programs in Yoshy's Childhood

Eiken Mail Magazine vol.69 on May 2013:英検メールマガジン5月号 Vol.69

このメールマガジン執筆者は、多分、「実用英検問題を作成なさっておられるネイティヴ先生」だと思いますので、ヨッシーにとっても、このブログの読者にとっても、英文表現の良いお手本になることでしょう。

Since I’m sure the person who wrote below is one of native “teachers of making questions of Eiken in The Society for Testing English Proficiency, Inc. (STEP)”, this kind of essay would be a good example for practicing writing English for both Yoshy and Yoshy’s readers.

LLシホヤ新井教室での実用英検は、従来通り、#2と#3の2回です。今年度は、10月13日(日)と、2014年、1月26日(日)です。

You can take the Eiken twice a year: #2 and #3 in LL Shihoya Arai School as before; the date of #2 Eiken is October 13th (Sun) and #3 is January 26th (Sun), 2014 in this year of 2013.

以下は、原作者の英文とヨッシーの和訳です。<2級以上レベルの単語等には注釈を付記>

The following is the author’s English and Yoshy’s translation. <Annotated words or phrases are the ones whose levels are over the 2nd Eiken.>

Recently, I met a young American woman who is very interested in Japanese culture.

Although she grew up in her hometown on the East Coast of the United States, she said she was brought up like a Japanese girl.

最近、私は、日本の文化にとても興味があるアメリカの若い女性に会いました。彼女が言うには、アメリカ東海岸にある自宅にいながら、まるで日本の少女のような育ち方をと言う。

When she was a child, her favorite Japanese animated TV series were Pretty Cure, Dragon Ball, and Evangelion.

彼女の子供時代の大好きだったアニメテレビ番組は、「プリティ・キュア」、「ドラゴンボール」、そして「エバンゲリオン」だったのです。

She enjoyed reading comic books such as Naruto and Case Closed (the English title for Detective Conan). She also liked playing video games such as Super Mario Brothers and Final Fantasy.

「名探偵コナン」のような漫画も楽しんでいました。また、「スーパ-・マリオブラザーズ」や、「ファイナル・ファンタズィー」のようなビデオゲームも好きだったそうです。

Her childhood experiences made her decide to study abroad in Japan as a college student and eventually work as an English teacher at a language school near Tokyo. She says living in Japan is great, although she misses her car and her boyfriend back in the States.

彼女の少女時代の体験に影響されて、大学生として日本へ留学する決心をしました。そして、ついに、東京の近くの語学学校で英語教師として働く決心をしました。彼女が言うには、アメリカに残してきた自家用車とボーイフレンドがいないことが寂しいけれど、日本での生活はすばらしいそうです。
