幸運な「蒟蒻の花」：Lucky Flower of Konjak

その横の、紫色の異様な植物は、「蒟蒻の花」！
A dark-violet grotesque plant next to it is “the flower of Konjak!”
学名：Konjakの英語名は、「悪魔の舌」、「象の足」…名前まで異様です。
Its English name of the botanical name, Konjak is “devil’s tongue” or “elephant’s foot”. … These common names also sound grotesque.
それもそのはず、ウィキペディアによれば、食用にしている国は、中国、日本、ミャンマー…、数えるほどのようです。
That’s only natural; according to WIKIPEDIA, there are a few countries whose people are eating it in the world.
一昨年、庭の草取りをしていて、「蒟蒻の根っこ」を「何かの根っこの腐ったもの」と思い、畑の隅の「堆肥置き場」に放っておきました。
Two years ago, while weeding, Yoshy dropped “its root” into “an enclosure for compost” at the corner of LL-garden, because Yoshy believed it to be “something rotten from some plants”.
それを見つけたRは、ヨッシーに、「×××！」
Then after a while, R found it there, saying to Yoshy, “×××!”
閑話休題。6月9日(日)、花壇のフェンスを購入にエリーと3人でお出かけ。
BTW, today, Sunday, June 9th, the three of us, Yoshy, R and Erie went shopping to purchase some pieces of fence for flowers in LL-garden.
昼時になっていましたので、又も野尻湖まで足を延ばしました。
Noticing it was near noon, we extended driving again to Nojiri-lake.
<.写真>：湖畔の遊覧船発着場に、50cm以上の大きな鯉が、重なり合うようにして、10匹以上泳いでいました。
<.The attached picture>：Over ten carps as large as no less than fifty cm long were swimming like lying on the top of each other at the quay of coming alongside for a sightseeing boat.
<.写真>：洋食の「船小屋」食堂がお休み。そこで、半世紀前からある廼鄙びた「○×屋」食堂で「日本蕎麦あんかけ」なるものを食べました。日曜日なのにお客は皆無。
<.The attached picture>：A continental restaurant: “Funagoya”, where we wanted to eat lunch was closed. So we tried to eat “Soba-ankake: buckwheat noodle with starchy egg” at an old restaurant, where Yoshy had ever eaten something like that half a century before. There was no guest there on Sunday.
お世辞にも美味しくありませんでしたが、当時の味を思い出しました。いつの間にか、美食志向になっていたのですね。
I would never ever say it was good; however, its taste reminded me the taste of those days. I found most people today including us have unconsciously become more gourmet than before. Don’t you agree?
<.写真>：帰路、池の平に2年前開店した喫茶店、「栖里時絵：スリジエ」に立ち寄りました。エリーも同伴できました。そこもお客がいませんでした。Rはフランス直輸入の紅茶、私はコーヒー、エリーは、棒状のイタリアパンをもらってご満悦！因みに、スリシエは、「桜の花」の意。
<.The attached picture>：On the way back home, we visited “Café cerisier”. Erie could enter there with us. There was no guest there, either. R enjoyed a cup of tea whose leaves were directly imported from France, Yoshy did coffee and Erie was happy to be served a stick of Italian bread! FYI, for your information, this French word: “cerisier” means “cherry-blossoms” in Japanese.
