The Last Practice of “Conte in English” was Over

_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/

“*Reform of the Modalities of Teaching English: *Recommendation to *MEXT: Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology by *Key Figures” was *televised on NHK TV last Friday on September 26th.

There was one *concrete example among them. It was “to *have them argue and announce about current affairs in the language of English in a high school subject of English.”

*have A []Aに~(原形動詞)してもらう、させる

We’d been adding “Performing English Drama” to LL Speech Contests in several times until last year. But I *can’t help but notice that many students worry about their learning their lines by heart. The number of such kind of students has been increasing. Then I decided to change the modalities from the past to the new one, which is that “in order to tell one’s feelings or wills”, “*prompt and vivid activities out of *mind and body ought to become basis” – This is the biggest key to solve present hardship to teach the language of English, Yoshy had been thinking so. Needless to write, to hold “LL Junior Debate Contest” is one of my dreams, however it is still *premature!

*can’t help but notice that~:~のことが目につく

*mind and body:心身 (Cf.

We enjoyed practicing the new performance, Conte five times; “so that they could quickly picture the words of each scene in their minds, not just only to remember “given words by adults”. I.e. First, Yoshy had them try to find “the funny words *suited for a scene” in Japanese. Next, whenever all performers *burst into laughter, I told the cast the translated English words.

*No sooner had a new idea occurred to us than the words were changed. … I.e. both words and actions were changed in each practice.

*no sooner A had [do], than B [did].Aが~するとすぐにBが~した.

I think lots of children are spoiled by *artificial successful experience or applause so much that we can’t stand hearing such words as escape or discouragement. Only when cultivating “resilience”, we could start learning communicative language of English. – Maybe no one raises objections to this point. Well, it should be very hard for us all including me to do, I know. “Saying is one thing, doing another!”

Mr. Rowan Atkinson who is a comedian and a writer was born in England, UK. While eating brownies R made for us, we watched His “Mr. Bean” very carefully during break time.

This is the main document for that day.

On Sunday morning of July 6th, we enjoyed Yoshy’s presentation of “Conte in English” on schedule. … “If Erie were an English teacher, how do you learn?”

“If Y and Erie were your teacher, how do you feel?” Erie couldn’t put up with having “a banana muffin with cold cocoa” R prepared for us…

Yoshy had them think Erie and Fu-chan’s lines. Fu-chan is R’s friend’s miniature dachshund and she is crazy for Yoshy.

We were laughing all the way in an hour and half. As some students told me they were absent, maybe I hope that this event will be able to perform at “LL Speech Contest” which is going to be held on Sunday, November 5th.

As you see, CDs for your practicing were made; teaching Speech can be started from today, Monday, July 7th in LL lessons.
